Strategic Plan:

In early 2004, The Arc of New Mexico Board of Directors and Staff developed a five-year strategic plan.  The practical vision calls for “opening doors together.” The vision involves creation of the New Mexico Center for Self-determination; Arc leadership at the state level through a public policy network; and effective, sustained state-local collaboration.

The strategic directions below are designed to implement the practical vision.

1. Creating an Environment for Self-Determination by:
• Creating choices for self-determination
• Supporting and developing local chapters; and
• Building community and grassroots voices.

2. Building Internal Capacity by:
• Energizing and diversifying funding;
• Enhancing communication and interaction among staff; and
• Strengthening Board influence and involvement.

3. Increasing Awareness and Changing Attitudes by:
• Igniting cultural changes; and
• Influencing public policy.
