Project SAVE - Stop Abuse and Violence through Education

In 2006 Project SAVE hosted a two-day statewide conference in Albuquerque that was attended by 202 people and that featured 24 local, state, and national speakers.  That same year the project trained 99 individuals via 5 regional trainings.  In 2007 299 individuals were trained via 16 regional trainings.

At the core of the regional trainings was the interview skills practice.  Attendees were given the opportunity to interact and interview individuals with developmental disabilities.  Thirty-five individuals from around the state with developmental disabilities served as paid consultants to the project.

The Arc is currently developing a training packet that can be used by Arc Chapters and other interested agencies to train law enforcement personnel, prosecutorial staff, and other professionals.  Information about how to order the packet will be posted on this website in the near future.
